Is CMS necessary on most-many-any websites?

Based on my question it may be clear I don't use nor understand CMS and wonder if I should. My sites are not edited by anyone but me, they do not have shopping carts or other user interaction besides clicking on the navigation menu. One reason I ask is because it looks like the next upgrade of WYSIWYG Web Builder has many CMS features and I wonder if what I don't know (as it applies to CMS and site building) is negatively affecting my sites.

thanks.

The CMS improvements are just a few of the many new features. Lots of CMS unrelated tools will be announced later...
CMS is not a requirement to build websites.

Is it necessary? Depends. I build sites for small businesses. Most of these sites are pretty static. It is usually hard enough to get the original round of content from Bubba the Plumber so it really doesn't change much. Some small businesses may have a simple need for changes or updates, say a restaurant that offers a daily special. Looks like the new CMS updates from Pablo may address this nicely. Identify a section on the home page where the restaurant owner can change a few text lines each day. And then there are the customers that tell you they have to have a CMS site so they can edit everything. Out of about 150 clients around 15 fall into this category. And of those 15 maybe 2 or 3 ever actually change anything themselves.

That is not to say there are not customers that really do need a site built with a CMS tool they can easily edit on a regular basis. I just don't have many of those. That said, I am very excited about the new CMS features that Pablo is adding. For those few clients that need it it will be a welcome addition to my favorite website development tool.
