flex slider failure

I'm using flex slider for my image collections display. Everything works perfectly when i view he site locally.
When I upload the site, within some of the collections, flex slider shows some of the images, and the ones it
does not show, it only displays the file name.

All of my files are in lower case with an underscore separator, and are all sized to 72dpi. I have responsive settings for each
page to accommodate smaller display devices.

The behavior is consistent, no matter how many times I reload the flex slider, be build, republish, and upload.

As a side note, i need flex slider because I can display the title the way I want, but it would be GREAT if I could add a description.

All help is appreciated.

Mike

Are you referring to the FlexSlider extension?
https://www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com/flexslider.html

Note that this is based on a third party script so I cannot change the way it works. It is provided "AS IS".
However, if it works for some images and not for others then it must be related to the images or filenames.

Note that the built-in slideshow also supports overlay text and you can also do this with the carousel.

I would have thought that if it works locally, then one of two things has happened:

1. The picture files have not been uploaded to the server. You can check this by using some ftp program (e.g. FileZilla) to connect to the server and see if the files are there.
2. The host software is changing filenames if it sees invalid characters. Test this out by changing a couple of files (ones you don't see on the server) to something different, ensure they are uploaded and then see if they appear in your slider.

Without actually seeing what you have done it is hard to say. Generally if a image doesnt display once published it is due to a naming convention ie space in the name, starts with a number, invalid characters or even the file extension could break it ie .JPG rather than .jpg or .JPEG.
There should be no difference in local and publiced but servers can be case sensitive and pinickity with file extension names so it always best to endure they.
See the following on naming convention etc
